Treatment Modalities
Somatic Therapies
Somatic therapies, such as Sensorymotor Psychotherapy, move beyond talking to involve the body, mind and spirit in the therapeutic process. Through mindful exploration, the wisdom of the body is harnessed.
Given the right environment and therapeutic attunement, the mind and body will naturally move towards healing and well-being. This approach focuses on building resources to help cope with current stress, anxiety and triggering, allowing a strong and stable foundation before addressing past traumas.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a therapeutic modality with a strong focus on mindfulness. We often try to change or suppress our thoughts and feelings, leading to even more anguish and struggle. ACT helps change our relationship to thoughts and feelings, thus lessening their impact on us. It also helps clients get clear on why they want to change. Getting clearer on what you value the most in your life can not only help inspire change but ultimately leads to more fulfilment and meaning in life.
Havening Techniques
The Havening technique is aimed at reducing the impact of trauma and traumatic encoding. The use of Havening touch, done by the practitioner or client, helps to down regulate the nervous system and fight flight response.
Havening is beneficial for PTSD, flashbacks and for reducing the triggering caused by any kind of stimulus or traumatic memory, including phobias. Havening is also a good tool for stress management, peak performance or work related tasks such as public speaking. Clients can learn to use this outside of the therapy sessions for self-care and stress relief.
Mind Body Eating Coaching
This is a holistic approach to helping you transform your relationship with food, body and self. Clients who benefit from this kind of coaching are usually struggling with overeating, binge eating, weight issues, digestive issue, endless dieting, food obsession, low energy and much more. This is about moving away from dieting and embracing the psychology of the eater, learning how to nourish your body, mind and soul.
