Why do I do this work?
Professional Background
My work as a remedial massage therapist over the past two decades has given me huge insight into the impact of people emotions on their bodies. This work certainly sparked my interest into the mind-body connection. It inspired me to learn more about how our past traumas can reside in our bodies and what might be the most effective ways of processing them out of the body. This inspired me to undertake Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Whilst my therapy style is mostly informed by body focused or somatic therapies, I also draw on acceptance and commitment therapy ( ACT), the Havening techniques and internal family systems in my therapy work.
I am also a certified mind-body eating coach. I was drawn to this training because of my own experience of struggling with food and body and a curiosity of how to best navigate this.
I am passionate about my own and others personal development and feel honoured to walk along side clients as they unravel and overcome obstacles in their lives.
What do I get up to when I’m not in therapist mode?
Mostly hanging out with my wife and two young boys, bushwalking, getting my feet in the soil whilst gardening and laughing a lot!
I love walking, swimming and cycling and looking for new adventures and challenges. I’m passionate about natural health, nutrition, meditation and finding work-life balance. Personal development is the thing that lights my fire the most. So I feel incredibly grateful that I can incorporate this into my work.
